Veganism has been coming in hot in recent years, with so many arguments in favor of this plant-based diet. Vegans refrain from consuming any animal products, including dairy and eggs, which some people find hard to stay motivated to pursue this lifestyle change. Here are some good reasons to go vegan and ditch meat-eating:
1. It helps animals
It’s no secret that many animal farms in the world treat their animals terribly. With the adoption of a vegan diet, it can stop that and actually help animals everywhere. The average vegan saves about 100 animal lives a year. If we all changed the way we think, animal suffering wouldn’t be a thing at all! Agriculture is definitely the leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, especially when it comes to animal products. Animal farming requires more land, water, and energy than grain farming, hands down. Eating meat is also very wasteful and causes huge amounts of pollution, and contributes greatly to global warming. Veganism can cut greenhouse gas emissions and pollution by well over half, all the while helping our planet out and fighting against climate change.
3. It lowers your risk for diseases
Heart disease and diabetes are probably the most common chronic illnesses in today’s society. Cholesterol and saturated fats are big contributors to cardiovascular problems, as well as diabetes, and animal products are full of them. Many doctors say that such diseases can be reversed and prevented by adopting a well-planned vegan diet. Combined with exercise and good mental health, veganism is a great way to live a healthier lifestyle while helping out our planet.
